Vegetables In Slime Aspic Leftovers

Hello, Dungeon Meshi Maniacs. How has your week been?  I've spent mine in a nearby cave staring at a packet of gelatin.  Deep in meditation as I became more one with the gelatin than I already am.  A slime can't fail at making what is essentially a slime based dish! We just can't!  I had to get back to my gooey roots.  After consulting the slimey scrolls I feel that I'm ready. I'm feeling pumped, DMMs!  Are you pumped?  Are you ready to see me face the aspic again for a second week?  Let's do this!

Come on, DMMs, don't give me that look.  I know you've already watched me fail at an aspic last week but I just couldn't let that stand.  So this week will be a very quick update but please indulge me. I need to sleep again! Will I strike out twice?  Ha, DMMs. I've never even played baseball before so how could I strike out even once?  The question is, how do I avoid total failure again?  It's said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Seeing how I'm board certified sane I'm changing one thing, we are using chicken stock instead of tomato juice this week.  I really feel that maybe the acidity of the tomato juice was too much causing the gelatin to break down  That's really the main difference. Every other beat is exactly the same.  So we start by blooming the gelatin. Pour a fourth cup of water into a bowl and sprinkle the gelatin on top.

Like last week, wait five minutes. While waiting I got my fillin's.  Gotta have something floating in the aspic, DMMs!  Otherwise what will people look at and go, "Wow...look at that!" about?  I decided on the classic veggie tray bunch.

Pretty simple stuff.  Chop everything but the tomatoes.  They look cooler just floating in tact!

Loving the colors already!  Go ahead and arrange these into the molds.  Remember from last week, we reheat the gelatin then mix that with two cups of liquid.  I did try and do this as slowly as possible, set the stove to LOW and removed the gelatin the second it looked liquid.  I read online that gelatin hates getting hot so that's something we share in common!  Pour the newly liquid gelatin into the chicken stock and then pour that into the molds.

Put these into the fridge for 24 hours and....why don't we take some time and look at some monsters in the Golden Land while we wait, DMMS?

Don't know about you, DMMs, but I'd love to have me a Dire Wolf as a pet.  Especially if I could ride it! This lady looks a little bored though. I guess even giant wolves get old after a thousand years?

Is she feeding cockatrices or basilisks?  Maybe has a mix of both? Remember to feed both ends, lady!

Izutsumi is just like my cat! Seriously, my cat is in my lap as I type this.  She is always in my lap while I'm typing these! Okay, okay...I hear you, DMMs. I should stop stalling. Did I succeed or fail? You tell me.

BOOMSHAKALAKA! Success!  Or what I'm calling success.  I'm one proud slime, DDMs. Even when my haters were at their loudest, I never gave up and I...what's that?  What happened to the other five?  What?  One photo not good enough for you.  I don't know why you need to see all six aspics but...fine...fine!

Three out of six is pretty good if you ask me!  The only problem is the taste.  It's just chicken stock with veggies in it.  So if you are recovering from a cold it may be a good idea. Otherwise I'd try to make something else.  I see the appeal of an aspic, DMMs, I really do.  A well done aspic is a work of art for the table and a fun way to enjoy a meal.  It's just a little too much effort for my skill level.  I may try one again someday but that's far into the future.

Sorry, I just wanted to include that shot of Chilchuck whacked out on wowee sauce.  It makes me laugh.  So that's it for this week, DMMs!  I hope you enjoyed watching me take a second stab at the aspic.  I'm excited for next week because I'll be sharing a personal recipe with you all that's very dear to me. Trust me, you won't want to miss it!  See you then.
